Every turn you change exactly one letter of the word on screen to make a new real word. Run out of time or tries and you're out. The last player standing wins.
You get 20 seconds and 3 attempts. Click a tile, type a new letter and press Enter. On a phone, tap a tile and use the keyboard under the board.
A miss doesn't stop the clock. Attempts and time reset at the start of every turn.
A move scores 1 point if the new word is a real English word that hasn't been played this game.
Plurals like CATS are fine. Names of people and places, slang and offensive words aren't, and a blocked word just says “not allowed”.
You're out after three misses in one turn, or when the clock hits zero before you play a word. If you disconnect, the clock keeps running.
Points never decide the winner. Being the last one in does. Points go to your stats and the leaderboard.
If no new word can be made from the current one, a fresh random word appears and the same player keeps the turn with a full clock.
In random mode words are 3–5 letters and a new word can change length. Pick a fixed length to keep it steady.
Practice against the computer, no account needed. Easy: slow, and sometimes misses. Medium: plays common words at a steady pace. Hard: fast, and knows rarer words.
Power-ups work here only: +5 seconds (20 Koins), hint (30 Koins), extra try (40 Koins). WordGPT games rank on their own Easy, Medium and Hard boards, apart from the online board.
Quick match pairs you with players right now, one on one or in a group of up to 4. Private games use a four-letter code or an invite link, and whoever creates the game picks the word length.
In a private game, players take turns in the order they joined, host first. Online games are skill only, so there are no power-ups.
Beat WordGPT for +10 on Easy, +25 on Medium, +40 on Hard, or win online for +30. Finishing a game without winning pays +5. You can also claim a daily reward, or watch a short video for +2 up to 25 times a day.
Spend them on tile designs, avatars, themes and victory effects. It's the same wallet as Plearn.
After every game you see the meaning of each word that was played, and new words are marked so you can spot them.
Every word is kept in your word list on your profile.
Playing as a guest keeps your games and Koins in this browser. Sign in with Google to keep them on your account.
If that email is new to us, your guest becomes your account and you keep everything. If you already have a WordBattle account with that email, you switch to it and this guest's games stay behind, so sign in first next time. If your account is from Plearn, our other game, your WordBattle guest games and the Koins you earned move into it.
